Saturday 21st January saw another running of the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock Park.
175th Anniversary
The Peter Marsh Group, the Bootle based packaging company is busily preparing for its 175th Anniversary. The Group consists of Peter Marsh & Sons Ltd who make paper sacks and Peter Marsh Packaging who make corrugated boxes.
Wayne Thomas Retires
On Thursday 31st March 2011, Wayne Thomas an employee of 29 years retired shortly after his 67 Birthday. Wayne had been a Director of the Company and played a massive part in the quality, Environmental and health and Safety areas within the Group.

Robotic Palletiser
Peter Marsh & Sons Ltd has always recognised the importance of good palletisation of our sacks. The flatter the sacks are the better they run on automated lines, in recent years more and more of our customers have installed automated bagging lines. Also the more stable the pallet is the less risk of movement during transportation and subsequently the more likely sack will be delivered in the best condition possible
We have been able to make significant improvements over recent years using different configurations improving strapping and wrapping and training. However this summer we have made the single biggest improvement yet with the installation of a robotic palletiser. This is a new application for this type of machine and was not without its problems (Challenges), but most of these have now been overcome. We are now consistently producing pallets of sacks to the highest standard
The new robot can palletise any size and shape of sack faster and more accurately than can be achieved manually. As a result the sacks are flatter and are able to run faster and with fewer problems on our customers packing lines.
Peter Marsh & Sons Ltd have invested significantly over 2008 in both plant and people to increase efficiencies and improve quality all of which will enable us to compete in this difficult economic climate.
